Visiting Angels is a franchise and has locations in almost every state. The local office services clients in the Alamance county and surrounding areas. Kathy, Donna and Jackie happened to be looking for a business to compliment their staffing business when the economy took a downturn in 2008. As owners of GC Staffing they felt the crunch and as savvy businesswomen knew it was time to broaden their horizons. Kathy began researching various companies and Visiting Angels stood out. “We talked about several avenues and, since we are all baby boomers, especially looked at businesses that baby boomers would need in the next 15-20 years.” The home health care industry stood out. Kathy researched several companies the group liked and they were very much impressed with Visiting Angels. The trio visited their headquarters in Philadelphia and chose to franchise with them. “We chose franchising,” says Kathy, “Because, while we did have experience in business, we didn’t have experience in home healthcare.”
Another factor was financing. Miraculously, they received an unexpected check for $60,000 that confirmed they were on the right track in their quest. It was a God-thing.
Visiting Angels is a tried and true organization with an excellent track record. On their website, you’ll find that the directors of Visiting Angels have always held the belief that their network of franchised Visiting Angels home care agencies should have the very best in training and support so that elderly clients will receive top quality care wherever the need exists. After extensive research, Kathy, Donna and Jackie were sold. They knew this would be good, not just for them, but for our community.
In addition to these three charming women that run the show, the staff includes Bonnie Collins, Nurse/Director and Angela Akemon in Marketing. Both work in conjunction with Donna, Kathy and Jackie as coordinators. Caregivers and CNA’s must have several years of experience and go through a rigid screening process, including a background check, before hiring. This not only assures clients of the quality of care they’ll be receiving, it makes Visiting Angels a top-notch professional living assistance organization. Family members can rest assured their loved one is receiving the highest quality of care. Plus, the staff makes every effort to match up clients to the best caregiver for them. They don’t just assign a caregiver at random. This extra bit of caring can make the difference in whether or not a client has a positive experience.
