American Lung Association’s Jewels of Life Ball Lung cancer in women is an insidious killer in this country taking the lives of more women each year than breast, ovarian and cervical cancers combined. For this reason, the American Lung Association is hosting the Fifth Annual Jewels of Life Ball, one of its many efforts to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for this deadly disease. Gail Worth, daughter of a lung cancer victim, is delighted to join the American Lung Association of Florida’s gala board and serve as one of the chairs for the Jewels of Life Ball. The gala is the association’s largest fundraiser and is of particular importance to Worth, who lost her mother at the young age of 52 to lung cancer. While nothing can mend this devastating loss, Worth believes that creating a new focus on the issue of women’s lung health will have an enormous benefit for others perhaps saving many lives. “[I’m] pleased to be a part of this critical effort, knowing that the dollars raised through The Jewels of Life Ball will fund potentially life altering programs for so many,” says Worth.
