Meet some wonderful people

My Generation Magazine (ME) Feb 2012

Protecting animals, teaching English to adults, planting gardens, helping to save endangered species or sitting quietly with hospice patients, the baby boomers in this issue of My Generation have more than their age in common.

Each of the individuals (in one case a couple) that we feature in this issue has found a passion for giving back, in one way or another, to their own community and the community at large.  It doesn’t matter what the activity is or how much time is being spent, the beauty of giving back is in the genuineness of the spirit.

Not all of us have the time, passion or inclination to take on the huge commitment that many of our featured boomers have chosen.  There are always so many different options, especially at this time of year. We all know that the holidays are a huge time for giving back – for many reasons, I suppose.

You can find your way to a local food drive, you can clean out a closet or two and donate your seldom-used items to a variety of different charities, you can bring your old towels to the local animal shelter, you can serve at a soup kitchen, or adopt a whole family for holiday gift giving. The list is really endless.

I hope you enjoy meeting all of the wonderful people we’re introducing in this issue. You can connect with us on Facebook/mygenerationmaine (“like” us) or www.mygenerationmaine.com.
