The term "cougar" has less do with sex and more to do with power.　Female independence is scary to the men who control almost everything.　 Men our age were really threatened by our intelligence, drive and ability to infiltrate their old boys club.　So, no wonder today's modern woman is choosing younger men who admire and respect her achievements and refuses to be defined by her choice in men.
 
Cougars　are　strong, financially independent, confident, sexy women who are secure enough not to be bothered by　what other people say - they are too busy living their lives and are constantly blazing new trails.

Puma: (n.) A "cougar-in-training." She’s a gal in her thirties who dates a younger man.
Puma Disambiguation: May also mean a cougar that is pursuing a cub less than 8 years her junior.
