Spreading Sunshine: Welcome, Summer!

Montana Woman (MT) July 2012

Summer has arrived! It’s the time of year where you get to enjoy many different joys of life. For instance the smell of fresh cut grass, the taste of a piece of juicy watermelon, the feel of the cool water hitting your body as you jump into the lake and the warm sun that dries you quickly, the sound of children laughing and playing and the sight of the orange, pink and purple sunset on the horizon.

Summer is my favorite time of year. People are usually happier when they are able to go outdoors and enjoy it! They can go biking, boating, hiking, camping, have barbecues and bonfires. Kids can go run through the sprinklers in the front yard, eat popsicles like they are going out of style and enjoy not going to school and staying up late.

It is getting warmer which means that all of us will be spending more time outside enjoying the beautiful sun with every chance we get. Going to the lake, playing in the garden, fishing - or whatever it is that you enjoy - it is important that you protect your skin from overexposure to the sun. We have all been there, done that with nasty sunburns that make you peel, itch and hurt. It is no fun!

We can help you make sure you get your “base tan” in order to ensure that you are able to tolerate direct sun on your long days outside.  While it is very easy to get a base tan, the amount of time it will take for each person varies.  Our well-informed staff is able to help you accomplish this with ease. I highly recommend while tanning that you use a tanning lotion to help with melanin production, hydrate your skin, attract more light to your body and achieve the beautiful dark golden color you are looking for.  It is a good idea that you wear sunscreen outside, especially if you plan on being out there for a while.

I, of course, can’t forget that it is also wedding season!  With a wedding comes plenty of preparation and planning:  hair, dress, venue, music, food and many other things that can cause stress. Often the last thing on a bride’s mind is her tan.  This, unfortunately, is especially evident in photos when her strapless dress reveals tan-lines from a swimsuit or other top, which can distract from her beautiful dress and wedding day make-up.  At Club Sun we would like to help you achieve that golden glow for your special day. We offer beautiful technician applied airbrush tan that will give you even color instantly and only take a half an hour. A great idea for the whole wedding party! When looking back at your wedding pictures its nice to see yourself and your bridesmaids with nicely tanned skin, accentuating your lovely dresses and making them even more striking.

When you are swept off to your honeymoon in Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe, or some other exotic getaway it is important that you have a base tan before leaving. It is no fun being a newlywed spending some quality time with your hubby away on vacation when you are sore, peeling and red. Make sure you protect your skin by getting a base tan and also using sunscreen while away.  Remember to be just as vigilante about skin care and sun protection while away on your honeymoon.  You don’t want to be lying in bed hurting with sunburn and missing out on the most romantic trip of your life!

Summer is also a time where families come together in one place to have a reunion and catch up with one another on what has gone on in their lives in the past year or two. My family has a reunion every other year and in a new place every time and I love it! I get to see how big my younger cousins have gotten and listen to my aunts and uncles tell me how much bigger I have gotten. We always get to play games, eat amazing food that my grandma cooks and listen to my uncle’s play the guitar and sing around the campfire.

I hope everyone has a great summer.  Enjoy the weddings you attend, the time you get to share with your families and warm weather!
