Avoiding the Wedding Bell Blues

Marriage is one of life’s great milestones. Many women envision this day as early as childhood. What may not be factored in with this exciting and happy event is the sometimes overwhelming stress. It is vital to manage this stress to prevent it from taking away from the true meaning of the occasion to come.

Having been a recent bride myself, I can certainly relate to the pressure that follows the engagement._ I think families suddenly go a little crazy when a wedding is in the air. As a bride, it is important to stay focused on what a wedding is about. Think about celebrating the special union you share with your husband to be, not whether the napkins are an exact match to the flowers. Prioritizing what is truly important will save many headaches.

Create a budget to avoid emotional spending. Use this budget to help maintain control of the guest list. This will allow you to invite individuals you wish to have at your wedding, not those your relatives want to invite. Setting boundaries for yourself and others will prevent unnecessary complications in the planning process. Prevent anxiety by being organized, which will allow for all arrangements to be ready on time. Spend some time pampering yourself. Get a treatment to help manage stress, such as a day at the spa; bring your fiancée for a relaxing time together.

Following these simple guidelines will help keep the transition into marriage pleasant. If you begin to develop symptoms of excess stress, such as insomnia, digestive upset or weight gain/loss, seek the help of a trusted healthcare or wellness practitioner. They can help you refocus and find solutions to manage the stressors. This is one of the happiest occasions in life and you want to be able to remember it clearly and fondly.
